The New Mexico State University Foundation has announced the promotion of Debra Marks ’90 to Vice President of Philanthropic Giving and Alumni Relations.
In her new role, Marks will lead strategic efforts to strengthen alumni and community engagement, drive transformative fundraising initiatives, and build high-performing teams that advance the Foundation’s mission. She will also collaborate closely with university and community partners to elevate NMSU’s visibility and impact statewide, nationally, and globally.
“New Mexico State University has held a significant place in my family’s life since my late father began teaching here in 1966. It is deeply meaningful to support and give back to an institution that has profoundly shaped my personal and professional journey,” said Marks. “Philanthropy has the power to transform lives, and I am committed to fostering partnerships that ensure future Aggies have every opportunity to thrive.”
Marks, who received a Bachelor of Arts from NMSU, has deep roots in Las Cruces and has been an integral part of the Foundation for more than five years. She has served as Assistant Vice President of Philanthropic Giving, Associate Director of Alumni Relations, and Director of Major Gifts. Prior to her Foundation tenure, Marks was Executive Director of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra for seven years and worked in Los Angeles with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.

As the Foundation’s new Vice President of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, Marks will continue to advance initiatives that empower students, faculty, and alumni to create lasting impact across New Mexico and beyond.
