Endowment Power

The NMSU Foundation manages gifts of all types and sizes. Much of our focus is on major gift ($25,000+) endowments that exist in perpetuity to benefit NMSU students, research, programs, and faculty. Endowed gifts are invested, and part of the investment earnings are disbursed for the purpose(s) designated by the donor.

Our Accountability

Checks and balances exist to ensure the integrity of the Foundation’s financial procedures.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors includes alumni and distinguished partners, each of whom has extensive business experience. These individuals are eligible to serve three consecutive three-year terms. One significant responsibility of the board is to determine our investment and fundraising policies and approve our annual budget.

External Audits

The Foundation is audited annually by an external auditor. We publish our financial statements in our annual report and provide complete copies to the public upon request.

Gift Administration

Donor-restricted funds are administered and made available to the academic units for distribution by the NMSU Foundation. We provide weekly, monthly, and annual reports of gift account activity to facilitate transparency and ensure the correct use of funds.

Partnership with the University

The Foundation focuses on the university’s funding priorities, and we maintain an open line of communication with the NMSU president and the college deans.
