Class Ring Ceremony
The NMSU Alumni Association is honored to recognize each semester’s ring recipients with the beloved campus tradition of the Class Ring Ceremony, held the Wednesday before commencement.
This semester’s NMSU Class Ring Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Club 27 (located on the east side of Aggie Memorial Stadium). It is a free event for graduating seniors and alumni to share their NMSU pride with family and friends.
The rings are delivered by Pistol Pete, carried inside a specially crafted wooden chest built for the occasion. Each ring is attached to a chile ristra—a cherished tradition started by alumna Jo Lytle ’83 with Hatch Chile Express. The brief ceremony features remarks from university officials and the presentation of the rings.
Recipients are invited to take a commemorative photo with Pistol Pete and university officials. After the ceremony, they are encouraged to write a heartfelt note in the Ring Ceremony memory book, sharing their ring experience and what it means to them. They can also read reflections from previous graduates, connecting with the memories of generations of Aggies who have participated in this cherished tradition.
