Honorary & Memorial Gifts
Remembering a Loved One
The New Mexico State University Foundation staff can help you create a memorial or honorary gift to celebrate someone you admire, respect, or wish to remember in a meaningful way. These gifts offer a heartfelt way to honor loved ones or commemorate special occasions. Contributions can be directed to any college, department, program, or scholarship of your choice. Gifts may be a one-time contribution to an existing fund or the establishment of a newly named fund (some restrictions apply).
Making a Gift in Honor of Someone to an Existing Fund
If you’d like to make a gift to an existing fund in honor of a loved one, please visit our online giving page. Select the amount you’d like to give, pick the fund, and then click “Add Donation.” In the Comments section, you can list the name of the person you’re making the gift in honor or memory of.
Starting a New Named Fund in Honor or Memory of Someone
Such a gift is a generous and thoughtful way to recognize a person’s life and accomplishments. We invite you to honor your loved one by contacting the NMSU Foundation at 575-201-9023 or foundation@nmsufoundation.org and setting up a special fund today.
Creating a Memorial Message
We know that many times memorial gifts are created at difficult times. We offer this language to include in your loved one’s obituary:
“To honor the memory of (loved one’s name), the family is establishing a memorial fund in (his/her) name at New Mexico State University. Gifts made payable to the NMSU Foundation can be mailed to NMSU Foundation, P.O. Box 3590, Las Cruces, NM 88003-3590. Gifts can also be made online here.”
Please note that when a gift is made in honor or memory of someone, the NMSU Foundation sends a note to the honoree or a family member when contact information is provided. Gift amounts are not disclosed.
