The New Mexico State University Department of Astronomy and the NMSU Foundation invite the community to Night at the Observatory on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Clyde W. Tombaugh Campus Observatory. Attendees can explore the night sky through three observatory telescopes, meet NMSU astronomers and learn more about the universe during this free public event.  

The NMSU Foundation will provide a complimentary hot chocolate bar, and the first 20 guests will receive a poster signed by legendary astronomer and former NMSU professor Clyde Tombaugh, who discovered Pluto in 1930 and helped establish astronomy research at NMSU.  

The observatory is located on Williams Street near Stewart Street, just south of the parking lots and opposite the track facility. Visitors should look for the three distinctive domed buildings.
